Welcome to the Knowledge Base about “Journalism, Users and Technology”. On this website we collect texts, practices, projects, tools, and people that are concerned with online journalism, particularly (automatic) analysis of user comments to journalistic articles. If you are missing something or have any comment, please contact us.

This Knowledge and Community Base is created as part of the SCAN-4J project, which stands for systematic Content Analysis of User Comments for Journalists.  The project aims at developing a framework for the systematic, semi-automated analysis of audience feedback to better reflect the voice of users, mitigate the analysis efforts, and help journalists in generating new content from the user comments.

The project is a cooperation between Applied Software Technology Group at the University of Hamburg and the Hans-Bedrow-Institute for Media Research. We also received a Google Research Award in 2016.
